 KASHMIR FAUNAL INVENTORY PROGRAMME

Biodiversity Inventory are presently held unevenly across Kashmir in different, often incompatible formats. KASHMIR FAUNAL INVENTORY PROGRAMME

Although many institutions collect data useful for biodiversity conservation , they are rarely made accessible in reasonable time or in the formats which the users require , particularly if the data transcend institutional holdings. This is because such data are normally collected for internal use by the institutions concerned, and there is little awareness of the need to build up essential data assets for wider use.

In order to address the above gap and to provide scientific and management information for biodiversity conservation in Kashmir. A key activity taken up by Environment Services and Research Organization in the pursuit of its objectives is the preparation of biodiversity profiles of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

The approach is to put together available information on various aspects of biodiversity in publications , reports , research papers , etc. for ease of reference and to promote the use of this information by policy makers, conservationists, concerned individuals and organization in their respective context.
